In 1912, due to the demand of watches throughout America, Joseph Bulova established his first plant committed to the total production of wristwatch components. Manufactured in the plants central building in Bienne, Switzerland, the jewelled movements were fabricated via assembly line, allowing mass production and closer toward a standardization never before seen in the world of horology.
Bulova design both men’s and women’s collections ranging in price from just under £100 upwards to around the region of £700 depending on the quality of materials, number of diamonds and functions etc.

History of Bulova Watches
Joseph Bulova opened his own jewellery store on Maiden Lane in Lower Manhattan , then the nucleus of New York City’s jewellery industry, in 1875. He called it ‘J.Bulova’ and quickly distinguished himself from the hundreds of jewellers in the district with its quality and innovation in technique and artistry.
In 1919, Bulova debuted the first ever complete line of men’s jewelled wristwatches – advertising to the masses across America with an iconic visual style that matched its product.
The company was reincorporated under the name Bulova Watch Company in1923.
Focusing its energy on future sales, Bulova also devoted substantial creativity to expanding marketing and advertising efforts. In another ground-breaking moment for the company, Bulova broadcast America’s first national radio commercial in 1926, signalling the hour with “At the tone, its eight o’clock B-U-L-O-V-A Watch Time” an ad heard by millions.
In 1928, Bulova invented the first clock radio, an immediate success. In 1931, Bulova manufactured the world’s first electric clocks, many of which still appear in train terminals throughout the country.
On January 10th 2008, Citizen bought the Bulova Watch Company foe $250million.
In 2010 the revolutionary Bulova Precisionist is released. The precisionist is the worlds most accurate watch with a continuously sweeping second hand. Two of the factors that affect accuracy in a quartz watch are temperature changes and vibration frequency. The precisionist technology addresses both in novel ways. This timepiece is the most comprehensive and potentially revolutionary product launch from Bulova since the debut with Accutron 50 years prior.
